Maureen Holla is relentless in her efforts to deliver excellence. She is a recognized nonprofit leader, innovator, and social entrepreneur with deep expertise in transformational leadership, organizational development, fundraising, and education. As a stalwart believer in equity, Maureen reorganized Higher Achievement from a shuttered, defunct entity into one of the best-run educational programs in the country, garnering honors from:

Maureen has hosted a sitting US president to share her work and spoken before the US Senate, DC City Council, and government leaders.
After 10 years with Higher Achievement, she served as the president and CEO of a $23 million charter school system during its transition from a parochial school system. She stabilized the organization and built its five-year strategic plan, management infrastructure, and fundraising and communication plans.
Maureen is a proven fundraiser who has secured seven-figure investments, audited development offices, and crafted both strategic and tactical fundraising plans. She is a highly creative and strategic problem-solver who relies on qualitative and quantitative data to inform strategy and design, and she is a quick and persistent learner. Maureen has been recognized three times by The Washington Post for Excellence in Nonprofit Management, garnering top honors in 2005. She has won numerous local and national awards, including the Excel Executive Leadership Award, the Mayor’s Unsung Hero award, and the Bank of America Neighborhood Builders award. Maureen holds a B.A. in education and is a fluent Spanish and Portuguese speaker with survival French.
Her consulting practice focuses on strategy and organizational development including sensitive projects such as: nonprofit expansions and retractions; redefining mission, vision, goals and values; school closures or takeovers, and full-scale reorganization. Maureen leads Onward’s strategic endeavors with deep experience conducting mission/vision/value alignment, organizational assessments, fundraising, strategic planning & strategic coherence, charter and independent school’s development and accountability modeling. Maureen loves working with clients who view her as a partner and who leverage every bit of support and creativity out of their contract together.
In her personal life, Maureen is the wife and mother to three children: Clare, Michael, and Liam. She is constantly moving onward and upward as an avid hiker and rock climber.
